In this article, we report findings from CIHRRC’s aim to identify emerging research priorities in HIV, aging and rehabilitation from the perspectives of people living with HIV, clinicians, researchers, representatives from community organizations and policy stakeholders.
We developed evidence informed recommendations for rehabilitation with older adults living with HIV using a complex knowledge synthesis of two distinct areas of literature while incorporating PLHIV and clinician preferences throughout. Fifty two recommendations were developed.
We argue that in settings where ART delivery is now widespread, HIV should be understood not only as a medical issue, but as a rehabilitation and disability concern.
