Just to verify I inderstand correctly. For usecase 2 and 3 one of the IPs in the 30 subnet would be assiged to the machine running services I want accessible from the public internet. Traffic from my laptop, smartphone, smart tv etc. would be NATed behind the external IP of the gateway router that connects to my ISP.

In your case, with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.252, your router will have routing information for only a few IP address, specifically 2. Based on your subnet, your first three octets are all occupied (they are 255), leaving this in a Class C network block.

So, a 27 subnet mask is 255.255.255.224 (because .192 32 = 224). Also, each time you move right on the standard typical subnet chart, you double the subnets. So if you have 256 addresses (which is a common starting point for simple questions on class C networks), then a 24 has one subnet.

This new ISP for the enterprise has given me a single public IP address with a 30 mask that is in the subnet of the ISP device, and also 4 nearby IP addresses with a 29 mask. A 29 can only start on multiples of 8 in the last octet. So your example doesn't work because 192.168.6.28 is not a network number for a 29 network; the "host" section of the address — the part not masked off by the subnet mask, so the 4's, 2's, and 1's place bits in this case — must be zero. 192.168.6.24 29 or 192.168.6.32 29 would work as 29 subnets.

Just noting that 10.0.0.0 24 is an invalid subnet. The first valid subnet within the 10.0.0.0 8 (Class A) network, now sliced with a 24 subnet mask is... 10.0.1.0 24. You have to throw away the top bottom on the network side just like you do for the top bottom for the host side of that bitmask. For the same reason, 10.255.255.0 24 is also invalid.
