i need help in a big way , its probably a simple method to someone who has done it before . im wiring a resturant by the lake and i need to know how to connect all of the mentioned , shunt trip breaker to the fire surpression system , make up air on the venthood system , all low voltage dampers...
Remove and install a shunt trip breaker for every electrical device under the hood. Run a low voltage wire from the 12v micro switch in the ansul system to the 12v shunt trips.
I put all equipment on its own dedicated circuits. Normally open I hook up to the lights and exhaust fan contactor and normally closed I hook to the receptacles , kitchen equipment , etc. Either that or you can put the receptacles and under the hood equipment on shunt trip breakers tied to the normally open leg on the micro switch.
Most shunt trips I've seen switch the neutral, not the hot. This is because if anything happens to the switch circuit (like it gets grounded), it'll trip the breaker rather than fail. Plus, a lot of shunt trip circuits in the switchgear are not protected so a ground fault would result in a small explosion.

Papaotis.,, It is pretty straight foward on the set up., the emergecy switch is very simple., you will need a shunt breakers or use subpanel with one breaker to feed the gas pump panel and wired all the emergecy stop in series so if any of the switch tripped it will trip the breaker to shut the power off.

Why you no reset Shunt trip breaker? :( Anyone ever tested a Shunt system and had a breaker not reset afterwords? Just wondering because this was an existing system in good shape that was tested today and all the sudden one of the breakers went to sh*t after testing.
Using a shunt trip breaker I want to control an outlet under the hood as well as an audible alarm I have two wires On m shunt trip and a control panel on the hood, do one of those wires go to the neutral bar and the other goes to the wire coming from the outlet? Or is the other wire is the coil needs 120v ?
