It is the tenth animated feature film produced by Pixar. The film centers on an elderly widower named Carl Fredricksen (voiced by Edward Asner) and an earnest young Wilderness Explorer named Russell (Jordan Nagai).
Retired balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, part rascal and part dreamer, takes to the sky by tying thousands of balloons to his house. Unbeknownst to Carl, a young Wildnerness Explorer named Russell becomes an unexpected stowaway on the journey they never expected.
Carl Fredricksen (Ed Asner), a 78 year old balloon salesman, is about to fulfill a lifelong dream. Tying thousands of balloons to his house, he flies away to the South American wilderness. But curmudgeonly Carl's worst nightmare comes true when he discovers a little boy named Russell is a stowaway aboard the balloon powered house.
Carl Fredricksen spent his entire life dreaming of exploring the globe and experiencing life to its fullest. But at age 78, life seems to have passed him by, until a twist of fate (and a persistent 8 year old Wilderness Explorer named Russell) gives him a new lease on life.
“Adventure is out there!” is the familiar motto from Up that inspired many. And the directors and artists proved it to themselves when they sought firsthand reference to design the pinnacle world where Carl’s journey would end.
