You can insert a drop down list of valid entries (also called a drop down menu or drop down box) in Excel to make data entry easier, or to limit entries to certain items that you define.

If you set up your list source as an Excel table, then all you need to do is add or remove items from the list, and Excel will automatically update any associated drop downs for you.

Add a list box to your Excel worksheet from which users can choose a value. Make data entry easier by letting users choose a value from a combo box. A combo box combines a text box with a list box to create a drop down list. You can add a Form Control or an ActiveX Control combo box.

To add a new data connection, click Add, and then follow the instructions in the Data Connection Wizard. The entries in the list box must be associated with a particular repeating field or repeating group.

Under Insert controls, click Date Picker. In the Date Picker Binding dialog box, select the field in which you want to store the date picker data, and then click OK.

Under Insert controls, click Drop Down List Box. If you cleared the Automatically create data source check box in step 3, select a field in the Drop Down List Box Binding dialog box to which you want to bind the list box.
