Clarifying for people not aware of the festival, this is what is posted on the MD faire site: "Within the festival grounds, many of the craft and food vendors accept credit debit cards. HOWEVER, drink and games use ONLY CASH. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND stopping at a bank or ATM before visiting the festival.

Traffic is pretty bad over that way, plan accordingly. I recently moved out of one of the neighboring communities after living there for the better part of 4 years, knowing full well what to expect after visiting the festival for the last 20 some years. It would take 30 to 40 minutes to drive the two miles home sometimes.

I've been to ren faires around the country and the Carolina Renaissance Festival is by far the best. It's not even close. Better shows, better vendors, way better food prices (Ohio Ren Fest, looking at you and your $12 plain hot dogs) and overall better atmosphere. I've been going to this one for over 20 years, gets better every year.

Maryland Ren Faire! Hi all! New to the community. I'll be going to my first Faire at the Maryland Renaissance Festival this upcoming month, and I'm so excited! I have a poor but perfectly suitable outfit for the day but I'm sure it'll be fine.
It was great! Had a really fun time. Plenty of things to do and buy (or not buy). The musical performances were great and the jousting was awesome. Loved all the crafts people with their blacksmithing, pottery, sewing and leatherwork. If you do go, just know that most everything (Food and drinks, attractions, and tips for shows) take only cash.
